The act of a party or an attorney showing up in court. Once it is established that an attorney represents the person（by filing a notice of appearance or representation of actually appearing），the lawyer may make an appearance for client on some matters without the client being present.
律师出庭前，通常要向法院提交“出庭申请”（notice of appearance）。有些事情只需律师出庭，当事人可以不出庭。
