The TV program, A Bite of China, featuring delicious Chinese food, has attracted countless viewers, and moved many to tears.

A Bite of China is a serious documentary providing a unique view of Chinese as well as the relations between people and food and between people and society from the view of food. The touching documentary reminds some people of their mother, and makes some realize that every grain comes from hard and laborious work. Some people see patriotism (爱国精神) in the documentary, and some consider it a great cultural export.

How did this documentary achieve a great influence beyond its subject matter in such a short time?

“It is not empty propaganda (宣传) about China’s splendid food culture.Instead, it shows the techniques used in making food and their production process as well as the lives of ordinary people, thus striking a chord (共鸣) with the audience,” an Internet user said. The success of the documentary should be attributed to sincerity and reality.

When I started a business, I wanted to sell it a day later. When I started graduate school, I was already planning how I was going to be the fastest PhD in history.

Around the time that I had planned on receiving that PhD, I ended up getting thrown out.“Lack of maturity (成熟),” the letter said.

I don’t believe that “life is short”.Sometimes it feels very long.I wish every day was already over just so I could get to the next. And the next.An imaginary tomorrow always seems to be better than today in my head. This makes me think of my hero, Gene Wolfe, a great inventor and writer.Gene Wolfe was given the task of taking a baked potato, pressing it down, and slicing it up so that it could fit into a tennis ball can.

Well, he did it.He invented Pringles (品客薯片).Many normal human beings, not as devoted to status and creativity as Gene was, might say: ―OK, that‘s my life‘s achievement.I‘ve created an easily storable food based on a vegetable that will please children and adults for decades, maybe centuries.‖ If I were Gene I would have rested on what I have achieved and played golf with friends. But Gene knew the magic secret: one page a day.

He writes a page a day.A page is about 300 words.A paragraph or two.Can you do that? Gene ended up writing 50 published novels, including many bestsellers and award-winners.

He didn‘t get stereotyped and put in that Pringles can.He did what he loved to do.That‘s what keeps you alive every day.Life is too long, but you shouldn‘t reject the opportunities in front of you every day.

I was talking to James Manos, the creator of Dexter. He said: ―My definition of success is not being able to tell the difference between work and pleasure.‖

It‘s OK if right now the two are separate for you.Today is a new day. This is my page today.

Not everything will come easily to you. There will be a time when you want to do something, either write a book, learn to dance, or develop a new skill. If it‘s something you already have had a gift for, things might come easily, but it‘s likely that you‘re going to find the learning process to be much harder than you imagined.

1 .You can‘t let the frustration keep you from your end goal, and you need to learn how to overcome it.If you don‘t you will never leave your personal comfort zone and you‘ll find yourself living a very narrow life.

It won’t last.

If you continue to push yourself, despite the frustration, you‘re going to find you get through things quite quickly.2.The more you ignore it, the sooner the emotion disappears, getting replaced with a sense of accomplishment.

3

It‘s easy to look at someone who started to learn a new skill at the same time you did and think that they‘re picking things up so much faster than you, and to take this as a sign that you‘re not meant to pick up the skill. You can‘t do this. It‘s likely that the person you admire has dealt with frustration of their own and might be just jealous of you as you are of them. You also have to continuously remind yourself that everyone learns at your own pace.

Look for backdoors.

4 .If you‘ve been working on something, such as learning to ride a horse, for a long period of time, you‘d better try changing instructors of disciplines to see if that helps. If you‘re writing a book, you‘ better join a different club, or start a new project. There‘s no shame in using a back door to get through the front after you‘ve been struggling with a situation for an extended period of time.

Learn to love the process.

Every day is a new day

Every day is a new day!

It does not have to be January 1st to give yourself a chance to make the most out of your day – and your life. Every day is a new day and a fresh start to learn, grow, develop your strengths, heal yourself from past regrets or hurts, and move forward older and wiser. Every day gives you a chance to reinvent yourself, to fine-tune who you are, and build on lessons of what you have learned. It is never too late to change things that are not working in your life and switch gears, instead of thinking in the same old ways, hoping for a different outcome。

Be nimble, be flexible, and keep and open mind to start each day anew! Flexibility is the key!

Ask yourself: How do you wake up each day? Do you start your day going already feeling pressured and rushed? Do you go through the morning routine without much thought at all, doing what you “have to do” to start your day?

How about starting each new day with a moment to stop, breathe and think of a positive intention for the day。

Think not just what you want to DO, but how you want to BE today?

Each day is a new beginning and a blank slate. How would you like to create your day? Think of it as a blank canvas – what would you like to paint on it. What can you create? If you wake up in a negative mindset, you are more likely to paint a dark picture throughout the day, and your canvas will not reflect hope, happiness and joy。

If you take each day to think positively, and have a positive intention for how you would like to create your day, how would your life be different? What positive outcome can reflect your positive intention?

What can daily positive intentions do for you? Every day you will give yourself the gift of an “attitude of gratitude。”

Visualizing how you would like your day will help release positive energy from within you and you will attract more positive energy from those around you. Instead of spinning your wheels in an old way of thinking, each day is a chance to reframe and re-look at things in a different way。

You can experience each day an awe in the beauty and creation of the world – and the beauty of you who is in it!

You find yourself shifting from an “”I can’t mindset” to an “I can” mindset。”

With a focus on positive intentions, you feel more empowered and more like a “victor” than a “victim。”

You are more mindful of the present, and will be more likely to live fully in the present each moment of each day. After all, the past is a great place to visit, but you don’t want to live there!

So how about starting each day taking a moment to think of a positive intention for the day? Each morning, write it down and reflect each evening on how you did!

Here are examples of Positive Intentions:

下是一些正面能量的例子:

“Today I would like to replace my feelings of annoyance towards my co-worker to feelings of acceptance。”

“今天我想要把我对同事的厌倦转化为接受”

“I am looking forward today to focusing on what I am grateful for in my life, rather than what is missing, and express gratefulness to others。”

“我希望今天能够感激所拥有的,而不是遗憾所失去的,同时向别人表示感谢”。

“Today I want to slow my life down and take time to savor the moment, especially with my children”

“今天我要放慢我的步伐,尽情享受一段时光,和孩子们的特别时光”。

Using each day to recommit yourself to positive thinking and intention will help you create the life you want and that you deserve!

Today is a gift

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room's only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his

back. The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.

Every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake. Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.

Although the other man couldn't hear the band - he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days and weeks passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths, only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep. She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.

He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside

the bed.

It faced a blank wall. The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had

described such wonderful things outside this window

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that money can't buy.

"Today is a gift, that's why it is called present."
